What is Extended Care?

Extended care refers to a higher level of care than what is offered in standard assisted living. Individuals with more complex medical needs or significant physical or cognitive impairments often require it. This can include chronic disease management, more frequent medical attention, and specialized support services. Extended Care is an all inclusive care model with the exception of when one may need a mechanical lift or extensive services that require more than one caregiver assistance. Extended care involves 24/7 nursing support, higher staffing ratios, regular medical oversight, and therapies like physical, occupational, or speech therapy. It may also include memory care services tailored for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

How is Extended Care different from Assisted Living?

Extended Care is a specialized addition to our Assisted Living, located in a designated area for residents requiring more personalized assistance. This space includes its own dining, activity, and living room areas, with apartments featuring larger entryways to accommodate specialized equipment. A centralized nurses' station provides closer oversight and ensures easy access to and from the clinical team. Extended Care goes beyond traditional assisted living by offering 24/7 onsite medical and caregiving staff, providing ongoing support with daily activities, health monitoring, and overall well-being. Our compassionate, tailored approach ensures each resident's unique needs are met, promoting a higher standard of living, safety, and comfort in a warm, welcoming environment.

A Vibrant Lifestyle

At The Landing, living in Extended Care doesn't mean slowing down—it means embracing a vibrant, fulfilling lifestyle tailored to each resident's abilities and interests. Our Extended Care program is designed to nurture physical and emotional well-being, offering a variety of engaging activities that promote social connections, creativity, and personal growth.

From fitness classes and arts and crafts to group outings and special events, we ensure that every resident has the opportunity to stay active, involved, and connected with the community. Whether enjoying a peaceful afternoon outside, participating in a lively game of Bingo, or attending a fitness class, residents are encouraged to pursue their passions and discover new hobbies in a supportive, joyful environment.

At the heart of our Extended Care philosophy is the belief that life should be lived to the fullest, with purpose and joy. Our team is dedicated to fostering an atmosphere where residents can thrive—feeling empowered, engaged, and part of a community that celebrates life in all its forms.

"The Extended Care program at The Landing has been a blessing for our family. My father not only gets the personalized care he needs, but he's also part of a community that makes him feel valued and included. Every time I visit, he's smiling and sharing stories about the activities he's enjoyed. The staff really goes above and beyond to create a sense of belonging, and that means the world to us." — Mark D.
